Week 9 CID Reflection

Only a person with followers can be called a leader. Without any followers at all, a leader is just a normal person like anyone else. The first follower is actually the key to the leader's success or failure.
In the video, the man dancing all alone seemed very crazy and ridiculous at first but due to the first follower, the rest of the people did not feel so awkward dancing together so they started joining and the group became bigger and bigger.
It shows how the first follower can help by taking initiative and be the first one to support the leader in whatever he does. If the leader had no followers at all, the people will feel too ridiculous to join in the dance as they think that they would be the centre of attraction but if this happens, it will also mean the failure of the leader in trying to lead people.
The number of people participating in the dance was so large that it was even awkward for the people who did not join as they felt left out. This large number of people actually only started from a leader, to one follower, to more followers, to a big crowd.
The leader's idea is important and the first follower is also equally crucial. The first follower is always the one helping the leader to achieve his success.

Week 9 CID reflection

A leader who does not have any follower is not counted as a leader. In this video the first follower is as essential as the Leader who had started the dance. The dance seemed crazy and unreasonable at first but since more followers joined the dance, rest of the standbys would be left out if they did not join the move. In our real life, some of us has really creative ideas and take the initiative to started it, if there is no one dare to be the first one to followe him,the rest will not. therefore the generated ideas will not be carry out in process. Jut like what we learnt in our History lesson, a historical leaders always started with their ideas that seemed impossible and unbelievable at that time, but when a group of followers formed, actions would carry out to achieve the goals. Another example is the international friendship day performance in our school, the deadline was closer,we needed some people to start the role of creating what kind of performance should we perform during the actual day,Hence ideas generated, the first follower gave the leaders their confidance which reassure that there was someone support his or her action.

Week 9 CID reflection

The video shown to the class on week 9 have allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of ‘what’ a leader is, the personalities of a leader, and what characteristics that individual possess to make him or her a successful leader, as well as the leader’s follower. The video started off with a scene of a man making extremely wild and crazy movements on a field. The maniacal movements this man demonstrated have aroused the attention of many people around him, yet these people have marginalized, ostracised and completely ignored him, thinking that he was barbarous. This only changed when one man stood up from the crowd and decided to join the man in dancing around wildly. Gradually, an increasingly number of people from the crowd joined in the first follower in imitating the leader’s movements. The leader is the most important person as he is the one who initiates and takes lead as the first person. Therefore, one must be responsible and have self-discipline to be a good leader. However, a first follower also do come in as a very vital role, as he takes the initiative to support the leader in whatever he is doing. Generally, in some scenarios, if nobody is willing to listen to the leader, a first follower must also step out and follow suit, representing the leader in one way or another, Only through this , the others would then follow the leader, In conclusion, although a leader is an extremely important person, the first follower is the one who achieve the success and recognition of the leader.

Week 9 CID lesson(Video Reflection)

A leader is someone who leads a group of people. One must have that courage to lead, but this is just one of the quality one should have in order to be a good leader. Can one be a good leader just because of these qualities? We need followers. The first follower makes a huge difference, whether the person is a leader or is he just a normal human being? This can be reflected in the video we watched during CID lesson.

In that video, a man was standing alone on a field, dancing ridiculously. At first, he was like a lone nut when nobody cares about him. However, a change took place. It was when the first follower joined him. The first follower stands up and makes that man a leader. This is just the beginning. Following that, the second follower comes and this proves that they had done well. Gradually, more people would follow and lastly everyone will follow and this forms a movement.

We can see that the first follower is as crucial as the leader. Without him, that man was just a crazy person dancing. Without him, that man wouldn't be a leader. Without him, a movement would not have occur. Everything happens because of one person - the first follower. He proves to everyone that the leader has done well and influence people to join them.

This shows that one cannot achieve something if one is alone. We need people to support us in order to be successful. Be it a follower or a leader, each has his or her own crucial part to play. An individual would not be able to make it without the combined efforts of others.

Week 9 CID lesson

A video was shown to the class this lesson. A meaningful one indeed. From the short video that was shown, I have a deeper understanding of leadership. Many people think that only leaders are important, and only leaders are recognized. However, this is not the case.
The leader was dancing crazily on a field with some wild music being played. But, the leader was alone. He seemed like a crazy person that everyone ignored, and did not follow. However, this changed when the first follower came in. The first follower followed the leader, and moved hysterically about too. The first follower made the leader less "lonely", and brought the leader company. The first follower called out his friends to join in, and not long later, more and more people were dancing crazily to the music. This is how a movement starts, from a "lonely" leader, to a large group of people.
The video highlights the importance of the first follower. The first follower brings out the effectiveness of the leader, and the movement. The first follower decides the "fate" of the leader, by calling for more support from the other bys-stander. Without the first follower, the movement with a large group of people would never have been successful, and the leader would never have been recognized. Therefore, the most important person in a movement really isn't the leader who is always given the credit, but the first follower, that gives the leader his/her success.

Finally, the movement was made a success with a large group of supporters.
